The Retargetting

So now i was armed with my new menu buttons I needed to make good use of them.
I grabbed a really bad rig (knowing it was terrible) to test it out.

About the rig:
It was badly skinned.
The skeleton was simple.
The controls were buggered (the right arm control was constantly gimbal locked - it must've not been oriented properly)

So the state of play for retargetting the mocap was first to label the joints. This is something Maya 2012 has kept (thankfully!). After labelling each (not a daunting task at all due to the generic labelling options) it was time to connect the mo cap BVH to the General rig.

This is the direct result after it was attached.
